2024 General Assembly - 74th Regular Session
The Colorado Legislature convened for its 74th General Assembly on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, and will adjourn on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. The Democrats retain control of both the House (46-19) and the Senate (23-12). The top priorities of the legislature are affordability, housing, and property taxes. By mid session, 567 bills have been introduced. These bills are covering everything from climate change and oil and gas reform to gun control and LGBTQ+ rights. Keep track of all legislation here.
2023 Extraordinary Session on Property Tax
The Colorado Legislature Convened for its 2023 Extraordinary Session, or "Special Session," on Friday, November 17th, and adjourned on Monday, November 20th. The Governor called for this Special Session with the goal of providing immediate property tax relief and relief for renters. Specifically, the Governor recommended the legislature create a property tax "relief package" that balances the interest of schools and local governments. 7 bills were passed and will be further debated during the 2024 Regular Session.
