2024 General Assembly - 74th Regular Session
The Colorado Legislature convened for its 74th General Assembly on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, and adjourned on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. The Democrats retained control of both the House (46-19) and the Senate (23-12). The top priorities of the legislature were affordability, housing, and property taxes. A total of 705 bills were introduced and roughly 550 of them passed. These bills covered everything from climate change and oil and gas reform to gun control and LGBTQ+ rights. 2023 Extraordinary Session on Property Tax
The Colorado Legislature Convened for its 2023 Extraordinary Session, or "Special Session," on Friday, November 17th, and adjourned on Monday, November 20th. The Governor called for this Special Session with the goal of providing immediate property tax relief and relief for renters. Specifically, the Governor recommended the legislature create a property tax "relief package" that balances the interest of schools and local governments. 7 bills were passed and were further debated during the 2024 Regular Session.
